Knotted band engagement rings are beautiful and just unique enough to stand out without being too bold. These rings are similar to swirl rings, with a band that ties along the sides or centre. Whether plain or pave, there are many ways to bring in the knotted element. The rings work well in just about every design, from modern to classic. Whether you’re searching for something subtle or something that makes a statement for all the right reasons, we’ve put together a list of some of our favourite knotted band rings for your engagement ring inspiration.
Gorgeous Knotted Band Engagement Rings to Inspire
If you’re considering custom engagement ring design, here are some gorgeous examples of knotted band rings.
White Gold Pave

White gold or platinum is always a good choice for its cool, neutral tone that goes with everything and anything. This metal pairs perfectly with white diamonds. In this design, the balance between tiny pave diamonds, white gold, and a twisted band that ties in a knot at the centre is perfection. If you’re more into warmer tones, it would be equally good in yellow or rose gold. You could even replace some of the diamonds with coloured diamonds.
Knotted Princess Swirl

Princess-cut diamonds remain one of the most popular cuts of all, for good reason. In this design, the classic princess ring gets some visual detail, with a twisted band that knots in the middle. The pave band running across the rose gold band leads to gentle knots on either side of the main diamond, with tiny stones set on each side.
Looped Gold Bezel

If you love minimal designs, this is a great way to add detail to a simple bezel-cut ring. A fine yellow gold band is looped around a solitaire diamond in a bezel setting. The effect is subtle, however, the loops make it stand out, even with its simple design. If you want more sparkle, you could add some pave detail on the bottom loop. You could also change the diamond for a coloured diamond or gemstone.
Split Band Swirl

In this ring, a tangle of pave strands comes together to form a knot at the centre, around a classic white diamond. The channel setting, milgrain details along the edge, and subtle split band effect make this ring bold in all the right ways. If you want it even bolder, you could mix metals and alternate warm-toned and cool-toned metals. A coloured diamond in a soft shade could also add more visual detail to this design.
Rose Pave Loops

Another example of looped knots, this ring features a messy tangle of pave strands on a warm rose gold band. Rather than having a centre diamond, the ring gets its sparkle from the number of pave diamonds set into the band. Rose gold works well to balance the diamonds, but it would work in any metal.
Chunky Gold Celtic

Chunky rings are always a good choice if you prefer less subtle rings. Celtic designs have plenty of romantic symbolism, making them a good choice if you’re looking for something a bit different. In this ring, a series of knotted pave loops lies within a channel setting. The ring has plenty of sparkle that catches the light. You could add bigger diamonds at the centre of each knot for more detail or alternate the loops with coloured diamonds.
